Birchbox Unboxing: September 2013

Happy Saturday everyone, I hope you're having a great weekend. Today I have a Birchbox unboxing for you all. Don't know what Birchbox is? Birchbox is a subscription service. Every month for $10, five or more beauty samples get delivered to your door. Reviewing those products on their website earns you points towards full sized products. Every review counts as 10 points, and every 100 points are worth $10. After just a few months you can have enough points to purchase full sized products featured on their website. Its a great deal!

Click the 'read more' to see what I received!

The first thing I noticed was the Yes to Blueberries Age Refresh Cleansing Facial Towelettes. They are makeup removing wipes made to cleanse and moisturize the skin. They're hypoallergenic, and oil-free. I'm excited to try these because I haven't tried many Yes to products. They smell great too! (Full size 30 pack: $7.99)

They also included this amika Bombshell Blowout Spray. The bottle says "protect, texturize, volumize, and repair; for all hair types". This sample size is fairly large at 2 US fl. oz. I have high hopes for this product, seeing as though I have tried a few samples from amika and loved them all. (Full size 8 oz product: $24.00)

I'm not the biggest fan of nail varnish samples, so luckily they sent a full sized one this time around. Something about brands that I've never heard of in teeny tiny mini bottles never works out for me. This RUFFIAN Nail Lacquer in Hedge Fund has super cute packaging, and its a pretty fall shade. The picture honestly doesn't do it justice. ($10.00)
They included two samples of the Yes to Grapefruit CC Cream, in two different shades. I'm quite happy that they included the different colors because not only does it give me more product to use and hopefully enjoy, but I'll also be able to better figure out the shade to order incase I do like it. The packaging says that it color corrects and hydrates skin, helps brighten and even skin, and contains SPF 18. Like I said earlier, I've been wanting to try out the Yes to ranges, so I'm happy they included these. (Full size product: $15.99)
Perfume samples, my least favorite thing to receive. I just have so many of them at this point that its overwhelming to actually use one up and then purchase the full size. I will say though that after testing out this Nicole Richie perfume on my wrist, I absolutely love the smell. My mom asked to use some after smelling it on me, and then asked me to purchase her a full size. (Full size 50ml: $55.00)

I'm really excited to try these products out. I'm a little disappointed with the lack of makeup products, but overall I think its a great mix. I'm most excited about the Yes to products. The full size value of all the products given this month is $112.98!

Did you receive anything different in your Birchbox, or did you get the same one? What do you think?

  1. I wish we had Birchbox (Glossybox etc) subscription- it's like getting a (paid) present every month. I'd like that (even if it's paid) ;)

  6. I used to have a subscription to Glossybox, but I was finding I'd rather spend the money on a full sized product. They're such great ideas though! The Amika spray looks great! Thank you for your kind words on my blog. I'm following yours now. Lots of love from London! :) xx

    1. I understand what you mean! If I were paying $30-$40, and ended up hating the box I'd feel pretty ripped off. I think the price is just right on this one! Even if I dislike a product, its just a sample size and I have a few more to try out.

  7. Wish we had monthly beauty boxes, seems like this trend isn't going to come here in Eastern Europe. I like the sound of those blueberry wipes! :)

  18. I'm not huge on sub boxes just because I like to spend money on products I know I want and will use, but this months' birchbox seems great! I love Yes To makeup remover wipes, and I personally love the cucumber ones! I am quite interested in that hair texturizer and the CC cream from Yes To.

I've never heard of the review system & points and that's definitely an incentive for the bitchbox as well! that nail polish looks gorgeous! Can't wait to see what you think about it!

  31. I received rather similar samples, but the one that Im most excited to try is the VOESH New York Collagen Gloves that came in my Birchbox. I also love the RUFFIAN nail polish. I have gotten so many nail polish samples from Birchbox, but I love them all! I have yet to get a shade that looks bad on me. Im not a big fan of Yes To, however, and the tiny Grapefruit CC Cream samples are just disappointing; I might end up throwing them away.
